Keithsburg, Illinois is a sportsman paradise, summer and winter.
Keithsburg is a boater's paradise located between Lock and Dam 17 and 18 which
is the largest pool (26 miles) on the Mississippi River. This area attracts the
boaters, fishermen, jet ski enthusiasts, hunters and campers.
Keithsburg has one
of the nicest campgrounds on the Mississippi River which is located on 3rd
Street, just two blocks off Main Street. The campground was originally built by volunteers
in 1985. There are approximately 60 campsites with water and electric hookups.
On each end of the campground there are Boat Docks, Shower Houses and Restroom

Bass
Fishermen come near and far for fishing tournaments. This picture was taken the
morning of the tournament at the Motel which is located right on the
river.
To the north, within the city limits, is the
Port Louisa Refuge.
This is very popular for fishing, ice fishing, bird watching, etc.
South about 3 miles is the Big River State Forest. There is
another very nice and popular campground. The Moto Guzzi Rally is held here as
an annual event and as you can see from the picture people come from near and far
for this event also! Putney's Landing is another boat access area located 1 mile
South of Big River and has a nice picnic area.
The Pine Cone Horse Trail and
Equestrian Campground is in the North section of
Big River State Forest and has a corral, stable, water and restroom facility. The trail
goes through pines, hardwoods and fire lanes throughout the forest, 30 miles of
marked trails and 40 miles of disc fire lanes. A snowmobiler's paradise. In
addition to the park, Pine View Cabin's has rental cabins along with horse

In June the Volunteer Fire Department
have an annual Firemen's Fish Fry serving
Catfish and Chicken. Lots of live entertainment along with a parade, music, water fight, cake walk and kids games.
The
third Sunday of August the
Keithsburg Boat Club
have an annual Boat in Breakfast. This is a large event, people come from all
over whether they boat-in or drive by car.
